What I saw was that your prep work is of utmost importance still, but the difference was that the PhotoLaser Plus job was more 'refined' in appearance, whereas the PhotoGrav job had more contrast and ooomph, but less detail. You don’t mention how you have your scanner and engraver connected to your PC, but FWIW, if you are using USB connections, I have learned the hard way that some devices don’t like either long USB cables or being connected through USB hubs. In moving closer to ordering a system, I received a quote from Jorlink that includes EngraveLab software. It looks to be quite a full featured package, which is appealing since I plan on trying to dabble in a number of markets (industrial, retail, promotional) to get myself established. In addition to all the bells and whistles, EngraveLab seems to offer a serialization feature and more barcoding formats than Corel Draw. The real question to anyone with any first or even second hand knowledge, does EngraveLab even come close to making the process as easy as they make it sound? Let me rephrase. Is everyone getting by just fine without EngraveLab? Prior to this, I was leaning towards the Corel Draw/PhotoGrav combo.
